A noninvasive injectable wrinkle treatment, Dysport is FDA-approved to address moderate to severe “frown lines,” “eleven lines,” or glabellar lines, which are located between your eyebrows. These wrinkles result from repetitive facial movements over a period of years. The muscles under your skin produce strong contractions, and this continual pulling and tugging on the surface of your facial skin create lines and furrows.
Wrinkles are caused by muscular tension, and this unique injectable formula interrupts that cycle of tension by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that trigger contractions. Having a chance to rest and relax, your facial skin escapes from this constant state of stress, allowing it to return to a smoother, more youthful, and vibrant appearance.
Compared to a surgical facelift, neuromodulator injections are:
Requiring only short treatment sessions, results are temporary and reversible, with little to no downtime and no necessary incisions.
Belonging to a class of injectable drugs known as neuromodulators, it is derived from abobotulinumtoxinA, or botulinum toxin, as are similar neuromodulators like Botox and Xeomin. The formulae of all these are similar but differ based on the type of protein attached to the botulinum toxin A molecule. While the effects of each last about four months, the results of Dysport tend to appear a few days earlier than those produced by Botox, and in addition, spreads farther and more easily than Botox.
Dysport is FDA-approved to treat glabellar lines between the eyebrows. Botox can also treat those lines but can be used to address forehead lines and crow’s feet. While costs vary from doctor to doctor, industry data indicate that it is slightly less expensive than Botox. Xeomin contains fewer “accessory proteins” than the others. Xeomin’s “purer” or “naked” form of botulinum toxin reduces the risk of an allergic reaction and the chances of drug resistance — or diminished effectiveness — in subsequent treatments. Dysport treatment also requires more units than Xeomin, but at a lower cost per unit, while producing faster results than Xeomin.

Your injections will be given at our luxury facility in West Palm Beach.
After applying a topical anesthetic to your skin, your doctor will inject a precisely measured, predetermined amount of abobotulinumtoxinA into as many as five different areas around your forehead and eyebrows. The procedure takes only minutes, and you can leave immediately after injections unless you exhibit any side effects. However, avoiding driving is a good idea until you know how the medication affects you.
We recommend that you wait at least two hours following your procedure to resume strenuous activity. Avoid touching or picking at your injection sites to reduce the risk of infection and prevent the uneven spread of the neurotoxin medication. We suggest keeping skin clear of makeup for at least 48 hours following your treatment.
Keep your face moisturized and clean, but do not rub or scrub your skin harshly. Stay out of the sun for a couple of days, and after that, diligently apply a daily high-quality sunscreen. We will provide a detailed aftercare regimen and assist you in scheduling any future injections.

Measures are taken to ensure your comfort during the procedure. In addition to using a very fine needle, topical anesthetic cream and ice packs can be used to help numb your skin. Let us know if you have a low pain tolerance, any allergies to anesthesia, or any concerns during your consultation.
Neuromodulators and other injectables are safe only when administered by a trained and experienced medical professional. Beware of the growing black market of unapproved products, and never inject yourself or let an acquaintance inject you. This could lead to problems including ripples, shiny foreheads, or “frozen” or unnatural results. You may have some redness, swelling, or bruising at your injection sites for a few days. Risks associated with injection procedures include:
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience extreme muscle weakness, difficulty breathing or swallowing, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, or loss of bladder control.
The effects of injectable abobotulinumtoxinA are temporary, and depending on a number of factors including how quickly your body creates neurotransmitters, your lifestyle and environment, and how often your facial muscles move, can last up to five months. You may decide to schedule regular injections approximately every four months to maintain your results.
Neuromodulator injections while pregnant or breastfeeding are not recommended since the effects of abobotulinumtoxinA on fetuses and infants have not been fully determined.
Industry data place the average cost of one Dysport session at $450, depending on how many units are needed for treatment. Since it is considered a cosmetic procedure, your insurance will not cover the costs.
